The Rich Life

Happy Saturday!  Today is a good (albeit freezing!) day in Houston.  My dad and I are working on replacing my kitchen floor, my friend Holly is getting married, I'm drinking scalding hot coffee and listening to Christmas music… life is good.

So there's this new thing I started doing, and I'm super excited about it.  I am now (as of last Wednesday) a contributor to The Rich Life, an online community devoted to living the rich life without weighing ourselves down with stuff.  The community addresses living a full life on a budget, and is full of cheap recipes, personal finance advice (that's where I come in!), travel tips, and my favorite part -- the mentality of appreciating what you have by being present.

It was recently started by my amazing friend, Charity, who has spent her 20s working as a teacher, Peace Corps member, advocate and entrepreneur in Hawaii, South Korea, Madagascar, and now New Jersey.  Charity and I go way back to our study-abroad-in-Thailand days of 2008, and she'll always be one of the most amazing, open people I know.  She also has, as a native Hawaiian and true traveler, an amazing perspective that really comes through in her website. Check it out!
Meris, Marney, me and Charity in Hua Hin, Thailand, just weeks after we met.  We shared that bed for about $1USD each.

In 2010 I visited Charity in Wonju, South Korea, where she worked as a teacher.
